Tech in the agricultural industry has its own sub-industry now. Agtech, or agricultural technology, is the use of various technologies for improving agricultural operations.  Agricultural technology has the goal of attempting to boost productivity and financial viability for agricultural operators.




Agtech typically references the application of technology to the  agriculture  industry, notably software applications combined with hardware. Agriculture technology encompasses a wide range of solutions for essentially every aspect of the food growing cycle. From drones to pattern recognition, agtech is at the forefront of agricultural innovation.

Some Growers have been slow to adapt to technological changes over the past decade, owing to farming traditions and nervousness over spending funds on things that have not been proven.
Mostly, agriculture technology has steadily improved agricultural productivity and yield over the decades, enabling farmers to produce more with lower costs.
